Bende are one of the worlds leading manufacturers of dog training equipment and in conjunction with professional trainers, handlers, breeders and dog sport enthusiasts, they have created a range of products with the express purpose of aiding better results, for professional dog handlers or in the sporting field.
Bende products are sold throughout the world, we were commissioned to produced an online shop which would be used to sell Bende products throughout the UK. We worked with Mark Jackson to put together a design which combined the Bende branding with Marks ideals on online shopping. Once we had produced design which meet both of these and all party’s were happy we began development of his online shop.

We produced the shop using Magento, creating a theme to match the design which we had created. We combined design with functionality producing a shop with a host of features including:

Category based shop

The main functionality of this site is the ability to sell online, we produced the shop with the main navigation being via category’s which we set up in a side column on the main shopping pages.

Advanced search options

Allowing the customer to search under multiple constraints including by price, name or description.

Newsletter

Weincluded a newsletter sign up option in the footer allowing Mark to build up a mailing list to inform customers of new and exciting news.

User accounts

User account options were set up giving customers the ability to register with Bende. Users are given a variety of options including a wish list and a place to update their details if they change.

Top Products

We produced a top products section for the front page allow Mark to use his admin panel to select the products which he wanted to display in this section on the front page.

Static pages

We also produced static pages for Mark to include information about his company and give details on how to place orders etc.

Add This

No matter how good a site is its important that it has a high online viability in its sector, we always use search engine friendly packages when developing websites packages such as Magento, Vbulletin and WordPress. Giving each website we produce a great starting point, we also included Add This on the Bende website, Add This is a great social networking tool giving the user the ability to easily and simply share content across the internet.

The Local Business Network is a Grimsby based weekly networking meeting, we have been attending these meetings for a few months and recently Chris who runs the group asked us about updating there online image and functionality to help keep the clubs image fresh and up to date.

We presented Chris with a design and an idea of a content management system which would allow each of the members to have their own log in to the back end where they would be able to edit just their page. This would allow the members to keep their details up to date and make as many revisions as they wanted. The club were happy with the design and this idea so we developed the system.

For this project we used WordPress combining the initial functionality with plug-ins to create the desired system.

This site is now functional and the design is almost complete, Chris who runs The Local Business Network is a photographer and is currently in the process of taking some photos to promote the club which will be used throughout the website. They wanted to be able to post queries, pictures and other information along with the ability to sell club merchandise. Premier Pipework Services Ltd is a Grimsby based Engineering Company specialising in Pipework, Fabrication and Installation working with Stainless Steel and Carbon Steel. We were contacted by Premier Pipework Services after they saw a previous site which we had produced.

Premier Pipework Services were looking to have a simple single page site produced to advertise their services and give potential clients a place to find out about their company.

We have continued to help Premier Pipework Services Ltd assisting them with IT Support including:

Customised Creations is a recently formed Car Club who was looking to get a forum online as quickly and easily as possible. They approached us looking for a custom forum set up with certain functions being available such as a Shoutbox and a custom theme developing we went through their options with them and decided to use Simple Machines Forum.

They gave us an idea of what they wanted and we produced them a sample of the idea which this had given us. They were excited by this idea and development began immediately, as they wanted the forum online as soon as possible we set it up for them straight away allowing them to use the forum while we produced their theme. We then applied this theme for them without losing any of the forum activity which had happened since the forum had gone online.

Playtowers are indoor play areas located in Cleethorpes and Boston, they had been using an old website which combined both Playtowers and Boston Bowl. We worked with Fiona at Playtowers to help produce a separate website for Playtowers, to help give them their own online presence.

Fiona was looking for a fun, upbeat and colourful website which would be fun for children while giving all the necessary information for the parents. We designed a six page website including:

Home

The landing page for the website, giving an overview of Playtowers.

Party

A page to give details on having a party at Playtowers.

Gallery

To show off all what Playtowers has to offer we have included a gallery which has several features including:

• Thumbnails to show an overview of the gallery
• Lightbox on user click to show an enlarged version of the picture
• Slide show option, allowing the user to view a slide show of the images

Food

A page to give details on the food available at Playtowers.

Offers

The offers page is where all the current offers for Playtowers are displayed, as this section of the site needed to be kept up to date we produced a Content Management System which allows this page to be easily updated using a back end admin panel with a WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) editor.

Contact

The contact page includes a contact form to allow email communication with Playtowers as well as Google maps to show the locations of Playtowers in both Cleethorpes and Boston.

We meet Brian the owner of Enjoy Gardens at The Local Business Network Grimsby. He had been struggling to get a website to his requirements online for the last year; we spoke with Brian and showed him what we could do for him.

We produced a couple of single page designs for Brian and found a design which he was happy with. We then developed this design for him using the content and pictures he had built up to create him a website where he could show his work and the services he had to offer. We produced Brian an 8 page website with separate pages to show the different services which he offered as well as an overview, portfolio to view his work and a contact form for enquires and quotes.

Drawing can be complicated at the best of times especially with a mouse at a computer. Therefore this is why the graphics tablet becomes useful.

The graphics tablet is an input device accessory which can be attached to a computer (usually by USB). The tablet commonly has a ‘live’ drawing area as well as a wireless pen. This pen acts like a mouse when moved across the drawing area. You can move the cursor and click icons like with a normal mouse.

The main advantage with a tablet over a mouse is that they are pressure-sensitive. This therefore means that when drawing on Illustrator for example depending on how hard you press the pen down you can create bigger and darker brush strokes, this gives the user far more control.

When it comes to choosing a graphics tablet there are main factors to take into account. Firstly being what do you actually need it for? If you need high end, high resolution images then make sure you check the resolution prior to purchase. Do you require a large drawing area? The drawing areas on tablets can vary incredibly so make sure you know what size you require first.

Upon plugging in a tablet to the computer I’d recommend you follow the instructions included which will say to install the software. This is highly recommended even though the computer may automatically find the correct drivers. It is this software which allows for advanced settings and alterations to be made to customise the graphics tablet to suit your own personal drawing style.

Once you have the software installed and settings configured accordingly simply open your preferred software for drawing (Photoshop or Illustrator etc) and then simply start drawing. It is as simple as that. It may take a while originally to get used to the pen but try starting out with simple shapes like circles and squares.

Most importantly don’t give up just because you can’t do it straight away. Just imagine that technophobe relative of yours picking up a computer mouse for the first time and being unable to control it, we all have to start somewhere but you will get there in the end it just takes time.

Tom contacted us after being referred to us; he had spent some time working on a website and forum for bikers in the Lancaster area. The website he had made was mostly just a forum but he was looking to get the whole thing redesigned and developed so that it had more features including a full website, forum, gallery, news feeds and advertisement area.

We gathered a full brief from Tom and created him a single page design, he was keen on this design so we began development. Using WordPress we created the rest of the site including an admin section which allows him to upload images from the clubs meets and events and arrange them how they want such as in albums and a new forum for his members.
